Adaptive cruise control (ACC) ready
Automatic speed and distance control can only start again once the driver’s vehicle is moving.

  1. Drive off normally.
  2. Push up the control lever on the steering wheel (setting 4, RESUME).
    – or –
    Setting or changing the desired speed.

Interrupting and resuming speed and distance control

Interrupting speed and distance control – OFF

  • Press the brake pedal.
    – or –
    Press the control lever on the steering wheel down (setting 3, OFF).
    Adaptive cruise control is inactive.
    The desired speed and distance settings are retained.

    The status display B changes from orange to gray.

Resuming speed and distance control – RESUME

  • Press up the control lever on the steering wheel (setting 4, RESUME).
    The vehicle accelerates to the set desired speed provided there is no vehicle detected ahead traveling slower than the selected speed and the distance from this vehicle is less than the set desired distance.
    The status display B switches from gray to orange.

    – or –
    Push up and hold the control lever on the steering wheel (setting 4, RESUME).
    The vehicle accelerates faster to the desired speed that was stored.

Information
If the speed and distance control was interrupted with lever setting 3 (OFF), it can only be resumed when the vehicle is moving and no stationary object has been detected ahead.

Takeover prompt in active control mode (ACC active)
If adaptive cruise control has detected that braking assistance is required on the part of the driver, a warning signal sounds and a warning message appears on the multifunction display.

Insufficient braking during automatic deceleration through adaptive cruise control
In this case, the deceleration through adaptive cruise control is insufficient to prevent a collision.

  • Brake immediately.

Exceptional conditions with adaptive cruise control (ACC)

The adaptive cruise control is not available in the following cases:

  1. Ignition off
  2. PSM off
  3. Driver’s door open and driver’s seat belt not fastened
  4. Very large steering-wheel angle, e.g. when parking or maneuvering
  5. Electric parking brake activated
  6. Selector lever in N, R or P
  7. Uphill or downhill gradients of more than 20 %

If one of these exception conditions applies when the adaptive cruise control is switched on, the function is switched off.

A corresponding message appears on the multifunction display.
