The Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) is a sevenspeed transmission featuring an automatic and a manual selection mode.
Gear changes are automatic in automatic selection mode (selector lever position D).
The gearshift paddles on the steering wheel can be used to switch temporarily from automatic to manual selection mode.
In manual selection mode (selector-lever position M), you can change gear using the selector lever or the shift paddles on the steering wheel.
When driving, the driver can switch between selector lever positions D and M as desired.
