A - Fastening lug for electrically extendable trailer hitch B - Fastening lugs for trailer hitch with removable ball hitch Hitching a trailer
Hitching a trailer
Always turn off the alarm system before attaching a trailer. The inclination sensor could trigger the alarm unintentionally.
For information on switching off the inclination sensor:
Please refer to chapter “SWITCHING OFF INTERIOR SURVEILLANCE AND INCLINATION SENSOR” on page 259.
In order to secure the trailer when hitching, engage the trailer breakaway cable in the fastening lugs of the trailer hitch.
Depending on vehicle equipment, the fastening lug is either on the ball hitch A or below the bumper B.
On a trailer hitch with removable ball hitch, the trailer breakaway cable can be engaged in either the left or right fastening lug B.
Unhitching a trailer
Always turn the alarm system off before unhitching the trailer because otherwise the alarm is triggered when the plug is removed.
If the trailer has an overrun brake, do not unhitch the trailer when its brake is still applied.
The alarm function cannot be triggered when disconnecting the trailer plug if the trailer lights are entirely in LED design.
Attachments and accessories
Unsuitable attachments can cause the trailer hitch to break.
Make sure that the manufacturer of attachments has approved the use of attachments and accessories on the trailer hitch.
Make sure that attachments and accessories are suitable and approved for use on Porsche vehicles.
Please note the following when using attachments and accessories (e.g. bicycle carrier systems):
The maximum gross weight (carrier system including load) is 75 kg.
However, a larger distance between the centre of gravity of the load and the ball hitch reduces the maximum gross weight.
Please refer to chapter “MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT (CARRIER SYSTEM INCLUDING LOAD)” on page 243.
Only bicycle carriers that can carry a maximum of three bicycles are permitted.
The maximum reach of the accessory/attachment to the ball hitch 1 must not exceed 700 mm.
